Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated person to join our vibrant school community. Are you looking for a job with good holidays to give you a healthy work – life balance then this could be the job for you!
You will be responsible for the safe supervision and welfare of our pupils during the lunchtime period. We expect our Lunchtime Supervisors to have a positive attitude to the security and safety of our children, to follow verbal instructions, and communicate effectively with other staff and pupils in school. You will need to be patient, flexible and firm, as well as being able to treat children fairly. You will be happy and fun, enjoy leading and playing games outside ensuring the children are physically active whilst outside.
Key Responsibilities
- Promoting safe and approprate behaviours within the school grounds as directed by the Lead Lunchtime Supervisor.
- Engaging and interacting with children through play and other activities designed to make the lunch break as enjoyable and productive as possible.
- Supervise children over lunchtime implementing lunchtime procedures.
- To encourage children to eat their lunch and encourage good table manners.
- Ensuring cutlery, trays, leftovers and refuse, are returned by the pupils to the relevant collection and disposal points.
- To support, demonstrate and encourage children to play sensible games.
- To take out and bring in lunchtime equipment ensuring it is taken care of and stored appropriately.
- To ensure children follow school rules over lunchtime.
- Dealing with accidents, spillages in the dining hall, class or playground, ensuring that these do not cause a safety hazard to pupils or other staff.
- To seek support and take advice from the Lead Lunchtime Supervisor/Headteacher at any time to ensure school procedures are being carried out.
- Undertake any appropriate training required to ensure job expectations are met.
- Develop relationships with children based upon faireness, respect and consistency of action by all Supervisors.
All staff in school will be expected to accept reasonable flexibility in working arrangements and the allocation of duties in pursuance of raising pupil achievement. Any changes will take account of salary/ status/hours and will be subject to discussion, in accordance with the guidance note on contractual changes.
Qualifications and Experience
- Working with/supervising pupils indoors and outdoors
- Communicating with pupils with varying levels of understanding
- Willing to undergo appropriate training as required
- A basic knowledge of first aid is desirable and willingness to attend appropriate training
- Good communication and written skills
