Position: Part-time Administration Assistant

Location: Hurst Green Primary School
Contract Type: Permanent, 12 hours per week (Thursdays & Fridays 6 hours per day), 39 weeks per year 
Start Date: 1 January 2026 
Salary: £24,796.00 to £25,185 pro rata. Hourly rate £12.85 to £13.05

Following the retirement of the current job holder, the governors are looking to appoint an experienced and hardworking level 2 administration assistant to work in the busy school office to support and work with the level 4 Administrator and School Business Manager. 

 

About the Role:

You will be the first point of contact for staff, pupils, parents and visitors. Duties will include a variety of tasks including: answering and directing telephone calls, providing general administrative support, data entry, reprographics, administering first aid and distribution of stock/orders.

 

Hours

  • 12 hours per week
  • 6 hours on Thursdays and Fridays, 8:30am to 3:00pm
  • Term time only, 39 weeks 

The successful candidate must have the following essential requirements:

  • Experience within an administrative role (ideally within a school environment)
  • Well-presented and professional at all times
  • Able to deal with visitors in a calm and polite manner
  • Be able to multi-task effectively
  • Have excellent customer service skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work under pressure
  • Experience with IT (Excel, Word etc)
  • Work on own initiative, as well as part of a team
  • Trustworthy, honest and strong character
  • Reliable
  • The post holder will be expected to hold first aid training or be willing to attend training
